How to Handle a Broken Down Car

Here’s How to Handle Having a Broken Down Car

If it hasn’t happened to you yet, it will happen to you at some point in your life. As a car owner, your car will eventually break down. Whether you’re on the highway or in the middle of nowhere, you need to know what to do. Here is what to do if you have a broken down car.

Get Away From Curves

If you notice that your car has broken down, you want to get out of the way of traffic. However, you also want to be sure that you aren’t stuck on any curves in the road. Other drivers may not be able to see you on the side of the road when coming around a corner. If possible, coast in your car until you are away from any curves.

Stuck On the Highway?

If you’re engine dies in the middle of the highway, and you can’t move your car, do not get out. While sitting in your car as traffic builds up behind you is stressful, getting out of your car on the highway is incredibly dangerous. Be sure to call a tow truck (and the police, so they can safely direct traffic around your car).

Don’t Work in Traffic

If you’re going to work on your vehicle on the side of the road, do not work on the side that is exposed to traffic.
