Ford Transit Featured on American Pickers as Production Begins in Kansas

If you’re a fan of the History Channel’s American Pickers, like we are, you’ve most likely seen the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter that the show’s hosts, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, roll around the country look for a hidden treasure trove one after another. Well, starting now, they will be traveling cross-country in a new vehicle: the all-new Ford Transit, which just opened production at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant.

The Transit, a full-size van that was designed for commercial use, has one major advantage over the Sprinter: size. The biggest thing is, when the van is full, then we’ve got to come home. I’m interested in real estate on wheels,” Wolfe said. “There were four or five different vehicles I was looking at, and I just keep coming back to the Ford as the better choice.” Now Wolfe and Fritz can haul more relics than ever in their Transit, to transport all the way back to their shop in Iowa.

If you’re interested in doing a little treasure-hunting in your own, Ford is doubling down on it’s promotion of the Transit; they’ve hidden 10 scale model Transits in antique stores around the country. If you find one you’ll be entered to win a Transit of your own! Come see us at Pegues-Hurst Ford for more information about the contest or the Transit itself.
