Ford GT Racecar Heads to WEC and SCC for 2016

The year of 2016 is bound to be a great for gear-heads like ourselves at Pegues Hurst Ford. Later in the year, the all-new Ford GT supercar will launch, and its racing counterpart will join two major competitions: the FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA SportsCar Championship.

The Ford GT racecar will bear the colors of the Chip Ganassi Racing team and will first be seen in action at the 24 Hours of Daytona on January 30-31. Chip Ganassi Racing is statistically the most successful team ever at the race with six wins under its belt, and we wager it’ll work extra hard to take the Ford GT to victory there as well.

The Ford GT is one of most iconic racing cars in history. The GT40 won the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans a whopping four consecutive times and even scored a 1-2-3 finish in 1966. The first-generation of the Ford GT supercar that was launched in 2005 was based on the Le Mans-winning model and was met with huge success around the world.

With performance like this it’s hard not to be excited for the GT. How else will you see a team take back the throne that’s destined to be theirs? Ford knows how to engineer champions.
