Ford Giving $1 Million Dollars to Engineering Students

In honor of the former Ford CEO, Alan Mulally, Ford has created the Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholarship. With the scholarship program they will be granting $1 million dollars in financial assistance to exceptional students who are enrolled in degrees in automotive engineering.

The Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholareship program will honor ten one-time $10,000 scholarships over the next ten years, beginning next year. The scholarships will go to exceptional sophomore and junior engineering students at partner universities around the globe.

“Alan’s engineering background and data-driven decision making paved the way for the extraordinary leadership he provided at Ford,” said Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford in a recent news release. “We are honoring his legacy by providing scholarships to students who demonstrate the strong engineering ability that is required to develop into the next generation of leaders for our industry.”

It’s no secret that Ford believes that education is a top priority, believing that it is the cornerstone for a brighter future. This has been evident since the Ford Fund was established in 1949, and last year alone they gave $8.5 million to education programs.
