Ecoboost Ford F-Series Shows Truck Market is Shifting

2014 Ford F-150 Ecoboost

If you know anything about trucks, then you know that historically that what truck owners look for is a large powerful engine, in order to haul anything they need. Though now, as Ford has found out with their undeniably successful EcoBoost technology, that the market is shifting. Customers are trending towards smaller, fuel efficient engines for their trucks, and Ford is there on top of the shifting trend.

Ford has now sold half a million F-150 equipped with EcoBoost technology – and , for the fourth consecutive month, the majority of F-150 sales were equipped with a V6 instead of the traditionally more popular V8. On top of that 45% of April’s F-150 sales had EcoBoost technology as well.

And, as Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager, stated, the brand doesn’t expect the trend to stop anytime soon. “We expect those numbers to hold for the rest of the year,” said Scott. “It really is amazing when you consider we are doing that with just two V6 engine choices—the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and the 3.7-liter Ti-CVT engine.”

Scott then provided some details on the the upcoming production release of the 2015 model truck. “When we come out with the new 2015 F-150, we will offer three different V6 engines, so there is potential for further growth.” You can get your very own brand new F-150 with EcoBoost from us at Pegues-Hurst Ford today
