2015 Ford F-150 Ad Campaign Addresses Fuel Efficiency

The new aluminum F-150 is lighter, making it more efficient than ever before – but before now, Ford hadn’t mentioned a single word about the pickup’s improved fuel economy in its advertisements. The ad campaign for the 2015 F-150 kicked off in December, and just now, with the release of its fourth commercial, does the auto maker tout the truck’s fuel economy.

The new F-150 is constructed from lightweight aluminum – a huge risk for Ford. The F-150 is America’s best-loved truck (in fact, it’s the bestselling vehicle in the U.S., period), and many truck enthusiasts feared that an aluminum pickup could be less rugged, durable, and tough than its steel counterpart.

For this reason, Ford kicked off its ad campaign with a clear message: the aluminum F-150 is the best pick up the brand has ever made. It is not only durable, capable, and tough, but it’s also powerful. Truck enthusiasts and business owners who want capable trucks don’t typically look at gas mileage as a top priority, and so Ford put the efficiency message on the back burner.

2015 Ford F-150 adNow that we are all pretty confident about the 2015 F-150’s rugged capability, the automaker is ready to tout the pickup’s incredible efficiency. The aluminum F-150 dropped a staggering 700 pounds, making it one of the most efficient trucks on the market. The new commercial says the F-150 has “best in class EPA estimated gas fuel economy” but does not go on to provide any figures.

If the 2015 Ford F-150 ad doesn’t prove that you really can have your cake and eat it too, we don’t know what does. Stop by Pegues Hurst Ford today to see for yourself just how rugged and powerful the fuel efficient F-150 is.
